Round & round the garden Week 5

This week, we will be using the book 'Oliver's Vegetables' to base our activities on.
The children will be discussing which foods are healthy then using pictures of the vegetables in the story to match up to their correct labels. They will be reading the 'fruit' labels then drawing a matching fruit in their fruit bowl.
Our Maths activities involve counting how many in each set of fruit or vegetables then matching/ writing the correct numeral beside each set. The children will also be cutting out then ordering sets of fruit and vegetables from 1 to 6/1 to 10.
We will be using magnifying glasses to look more carefully at some more unusual fruit and vegetables, and talking about the size, texture, colour and smell.
The children will be drawing/ painting pictures of different food which can be grown in our gardens. They will be planting some seed potatoes outside.
In the Home Corner, they will learn the Welsh names for some fruit and vegetables then use them during their play, asking  e.g. 'Ga I afal plis?'
In RE, the children will listen to the Easter story and talk about the signs of Easter in our gardens.
