In Language, Literacy and Communication, our guided reading book will be 'The Enormous Turnip'. Our focus is left to right tracking and the high frequency words 'yes, I and you'. We will be talking about who comes to help the little old man 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
We will be using the 'Whole and part' thinking skill, where the children will have to think what will happen if the named part of the tractor is missing.
In Mathematical Development, we will be using Bee Bot and the farm mat to encourage the children to use and understand everyday words to describe position and movement. We will use the Outdoor classroom to play 'Hide and Seek' with Larry the lamb, encouraging the children to use directional and positional language when they hide/look for Larry.
In Welsh Language Development, we will play Old MacDonald Farm game using Welsh animal names and counting in Welsh.
In Creative Development, we will be using the interesting things collected from our walk in the forest during our visit to Church Farm to make different farm animals. We will be singing 'Old MacDonald had a farm' and 'Down on the farm one springtime day'.
In Personal and Social Development, Well-being and Cultural Development, we will be reading 'Tabby Cat and the Cockerel' then thinking about why it is important to care for all living things.
In RE, we will be looking at the Christian view of how the world began and thinking about the idea that all living things should be treated with care, respect and concern.
In Knowledge and Understanding of the World, we will be using our recollections of our visit to Church Farm and the non-fiction books about animals to identify ways in which an animal is suited to it' s environment.
In Physical Development, we will be using the outdoor classroom to develop the children's gross motor skills and practising for Sports-day. The children will also be practising their fine motor skills at the Writing Table by drawing themselves in the tractor, writing their name on the outside of the tractor then drawing the wheels of the tractor.
