Amazing Animals Weeks 1 & 2

During our first week this half term, the children have been busy preparing for their celebration service on Thursday 26th June. Parents/caters are all invited to these services at 10.00am or 2.00pm in the school hall.
In Language, Literacy and Communication, the children will be using 'Caspar the cat' for their guided reading and will be focusing on rhyming words. They will also be linking to work with PS, WB & CD by thinking about what animals need to keep them healthy.
In Mathematical Development, we will be using sets of farm animals to compare two numbers. The children will be making predictions/comparisons and matching sets to the correct numerals.
In Welsh Language Development, we will be using animal masks to introduce the Welsh words for the animals. The children will also be singing 'Buwch ydw I'.
In Knowledge and Understanding of the World, we will be talking about our pets and setting up 'Cornist Veterinary Surgery' in the role play area. The children will use a graffiti wall to put down their ideas for what will be needed for the role play.
In RE, the children will listen to the story of the lost sheep then discuss the shepherd's role and compare God with the shepherd, and people as his flock of sheep. The children will 'write' a list of the things that the shepherd needs to make sure his flock of sheep grow, and stay fit and well.
In Physical Development, the children will start to practice their races for Sports day. Please make sure they have their FULL PE kit in school on Monday.
In Creative Development, the children will be making 5 large eggs shapes and 5 chick masks ready for our service. They will learn '5 little eggs' and practice singing the other songs for our service.
Phew! We do have a busy time to come.
