We will be using 'My Garden' by Kevin Henkes to practise our VISUALISING skills. The children will be asked to draw and describe a scene in the book that they visualised clearly.
Foam letters will be floating in the Water tray for the children to spell some of the 'garden' words from the book. They will choose a key word from the book then find the matching letter sounds to spell the word.
Our Guided Reading book is called 'Sam a Non' with a focus of interpreting the pictures and interacting with the book. The children will be playing Snap afterwards to familiarise themselves with the Welsh characters in the story. They will also be drawing and labelling pictures of the characters.
Some of the Welsh characters from 'Sam a Non will be hidden in the sand. The children will be asked 'Bless Mae Sam/Non/Mam/Dad/Jac?' And encouraged to find them and answer 'Dyma Sam', etc.
Our numeracy focus this week is ordering a given set of numbered Welsh characters e.g. 0 - 5 given in a random order.
Our RE story is about seven monks in a monastery on 'Pancake Tuesday'. We will be talking about the Christian tradition of Lent, when people stop eating certain foods for six weeks before Easter. Afterwards, the children will be rolling out a thin pancake from the play dough, then seeing how many times they can toss it before the sand timer runs out.
