Week 2 Kipper's Toybox

The children will be using toy catalogues for our guided reading session. We will be focusing on recognising letters of the alphabet by shape and sound and identifying toy labels in the catalogue.
The children will be practising their pencil skills by drawing a picture of Big Owl then copying his name. They will also be using trays of Gloop to practise forming letters and numbers.
In the sand tray, the children will be looking for Numicon pieces and matching them to the correct numbers.
In the water tray, the children will be filling and comparing water bottles to see which are heavier/lighter, full/empty.
In the Toy Shop, the children will be sorting a variety of coins then choosing toys from the toy catalogue to buy, selecting the appropriate amount of coins to pay.
The children will be making representational paintings of different parts of the story 'Kipper's Toybox' to display in class.
In the hall, we will be starting 'The Toymaker' dance sessions.
